Calvary Bible College (CBC) was established in 1997 by its founder and visionary president, Bishop L. W. Francisco III, Senior Pastor of Calvary Community Church (CCC) in Hampton, Virginia. It was established as an interdenominational institution dedicated to training men and women of all ages and walks of life in order to foster a deeper commitment to Christ and Christian service. The mission of CBC was to provide biblical and practical training for clergy and laity within the Body of Christ in such areas as spiritual leadership, evangelism and urban outreach, missions and Christian education. Thus, the goal was to effectively equip persons enrolled to do kingdom work through the uncompromised Word of God and a commitment to excellence.

CBC was incorporated with the State of Virginia on April 14, 1998, and the Virginia Council of Higher Education provides for the institution's exemption from state accreditation given that the primary purpose of the college is to provide religious training and theological education.

In the year of 2000, CBC was accredited by the Accrediting Commission International (ACI), an independent, non-governmental agency that specializes in the accreditation of Bible Colleges, seminaries and other religious educational institutions.
